Space
Once a simple Späti, the Reichenberger 36 location was rebuilt from scratch with the help of architects Abcarius Burns, carving out a basement to house a walk-in cooling cell — hidden from view, but the essential heart of our project.
At the center of the space stretches a long German ash-wood communal table — a stage for conversation, discovery, and the shared ritual of pouring. Here, curious passersby and devoted seekers sit side by side, and after a few glasses, small groups often merge into one.
We use glassware and ceramics from both Japan and Europe: delicate Shotoku Usuhari hand-blown glasses from Tokyo, Bizen and Shigaraki ceramics, and Shuwan cups sourced directly from Japanese ceramic artisans and in collaboration with Tenshudo in Aoyama, Tokyo. We also serve handmade glasses from Lobmeyr in Vienna and porcelain from KPM in Berlin.
Food Pairings & Menu
At Our Sake Club, food is an essential part of showing sake’s versatility. Instead of serving Japanese cuisine, we collaborate with Berlin chefs who work in Italian, German, and fermentation-driven traditions, to offer a curated selection of small bites proving that sake can pair with almost anything. The philosophy is simple: sake belongs at everyday tables and celebrations just as much as at Japanese restaurants.
Merold
Shaped by a strong product focus and close collaboration with regional farmers, Merold serves a new take on German cuisine. The team led by chef and restaurateur Jonas Merold cooks and ferments with the variety of seasonal, organic products from Berlin and Brandenburg.
Zum Heiligen Teufel
Under head chef Antonio Di Santo, Zum Heiligen Teufel blends deep-rooted Italian traditions with contemporary thinking — seasonal, artisanal, bold, and sensuous. The cuisine is honest and precise, driven by respect for ingredients, producers, and guests, with seasonality, craftsmanship, and simplicity at its core. Inspired by travel, encounters, and markets, it is Italian cuisine in dialogue with the world — curious, open, and uncompromising in quality and flavor.
Sake & Sound
Part of the mission at Our Sake Club is to show the beautiful connection between sake and music — especially electronic music, since that is what brought Rich and sake together in the first place.
“As a musician who balances human intuition alongside electronic synthesizers and drum machines to write music, I found a wonderful parallel to the creative process of artisan sake. The attention to technical detail, the restricted ingredients, and the astonishing resulting complexity reminded me of qualities I strove to instill in my own productions. I was hooked.”
Richie Hawtin
While sake is the beating heart of the project, equal care was given to the sound environment. Together with Johannes Kraemer, Rich’s touring sound engineer for over 20 years, a custom-built system was envisioned and installed, inspired by the refined listening culture of Japanese hi-fi bars. Its purpose is not to dominate the room but to enrich it by creating an atmosphere where music adds depth to the sake experience. Future events will focus on live, hardware-based performances, and while there will be no DJ sets, selectors will occasionally be invited to curate the music without mixing tracks.
“The vision for the sound system was finding the sweet spot between pure audiophile listening, creating atmosphere, and supporting live sets: the very center of that triangle. The system reflects the same values that Rich prioritizes — focus on subtle details and musical information that doesn’t always sit in the foreground, but is essential to the experience.”

Sake Flights & Tasting Experiences
During our regular opening hours, guests can explore the breadth of our collection with a Sake Flight — three carefully selected sakes that showcase different flavors, aromas, and styles. It’s the perfect way to learn, taste, and compare side by side.
Once a month, we host an intimate Grand Sake Tasting, limited to just 14 seats. This exclusive evening offers the chance to experience bottles unavailable for regular purchase, chosen for their rarity and craftsmanship. On these nights, we also unveil a small collection of innovative and limited-edition brews from our partner breweries — kept secret until poured at the table.
